Does Your Child Want to Play Golf In College?

Is your child interested in playing golf in college? Here’s your chance to find out what happens on the college golf journey—what it takes, what to expect, and everything else you need to know. LPGA professional golfer (and First Tee of Tulsa executive director) Janice Gibson is joined by two of our coaches, Austin and Marla (who both played golf in college), for this College Prep Course for First Tee of Tulsa students and their parents. This will be the first of four sessions; parents, students (ages 12+), and guests, join us! For more information, email Coach Marla at

Reading and Math Clinic

The First Tee of Tulsa offered a Reading and Math clinic held at The First Tee Learning Center in August 2019 for all students 10 years old and younger. We hired professional educators to come in and teach classes preparing our PLAYers to go back to school. The teachers used a variety of indoor activities and golf games to stimulate lots of learning. Our gratitude goes out to Mrs. Blackburn and Mrs. Davis for all their efforts to make this a fun experience for our students. Their passion for teaching and educating children were evident in the excitement our students displayed while learning.

There was a total of 32 hours of instruction given to 40 students!!!

Success Story: JaDa, one of our students, was informed she would be staying in 3rd grade for a second year due to her reading skills. After completing our Reading and Math class, she was informed that she was moving into the 4th grade as scheduled and she is now succeeding!

(Science, technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Our STEM classes are focused on our students ages 12 and up. We offer STEM 1 and STEM 2 during the course of the year. Both classes attempt a deeper understanding of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics behind the game of golf. We dive into numerous topics: why there are grooves on a club, what do dimples on a golf ball do, how does rolling resistance affect a putt, etc.  These classes look at the physics behind the game, and the students get to see a whole different side of golf. We measure club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate to determine distance and carry. It is a fun class taught by our Program Director Austin Quinten. Keep an eye on our website for 2020 STEM dates!
