We’re bringing in some professional educators to help your kid get ready for the ACT! The classes are free for The First Tee of Tulsa students grades 9 and up. Open spots in these classes vary. Make sure to check back to see when the next free ACT Prep class will be.

Reading and Math Clinic

The First Tee of Tulsa offered a Reading and Math clinic held at the First Tee Tulsa Learning Center in August 2019 for all students 10 years old and younger. We hired professional educators to come in and teach classes preparing our PLAYers to go back to school. The teachers used a variety of indoor activities and golf games to stimulate lots of learning. Our gratitude goes out to Mrs. Blackburn and Mrs. Davis for all their efforts to make this a fun experience for our students. Their passion for teaching and educating children were evident in the excitement our students displayed while learning.

There was a total of 32 hours of instruction given to 40 students!!!

Success Story: JaDa, one of our students, was informed she would be staying in 3rd grade for a second year due to her reading skills. After completing our Reading and Math class, she was informed that she was moving into the 4th grade as scheduled and she is now succeeding!

(Science, technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Our STEM classes are focused on our students ages 12 and up. We offer STEM 1 and STEM 2 during the course of the year. Both classes attempt a deeper understanding of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics behind the game of golf. We dive into numerous topics: why there are grooves on a club, what do dimples on a golf ball do, how does rolling resistance affect a putt, etc.  These classes look at the physics behind the game, and the students get to see a whole different side of golf. We measure club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate to determine distance and carry. It is a fun class taught by our Program Director Austin Quinten.
